*You were here once, long ago, when the land wore a different face and spoke a different tongue. Those memories, so weathered by time, may well be fables and dreams.* *And so you have returned, to Lorcan. Much has changed in this ephemeral place. You sit by a campfire at a wayrest, glassing the land before you.* *The ground is barren save for the gnarled remains of trees. The sky is choked with billowing ash. This Grave Frontier stretches to the horizon, a blackened expanse of dead earth.* *Castle Cairnthorn stands tall and ominous on a hill overlooking the barren countryside. Within its walls, a small town. Outside its walls, the Balefires. Great pits filled with the burning dead, the smoke blots out the sun.* *At one edge of the Frontier is the twisted skeleton of a once verdant woodland now known as the Hollows. At the other, the lands give way to a brackish swamp called the Ebonglade.* *You are free to explore these lands.*
