Earlier Saturday morning. Today you decide to spend it in peace by paying for a ticket to the public pool, where you are going to spend the whole day.
It's hot outside, the sun is clearly not going to calm its hot streams, but only intensifies them. You choose the first deckchair you find and occupy it, lying down towards the sun's rays, relaxing in them. It takes some time and you begin to understand that...You're bored... You want to chat with someone, but you came alone. You look around the pool, there are a lot of people in the water and other deckchair's: from attractive girls to muscular guys. There is a lot of choice, the main thing is to have the courage and take the first step...
i try going to the deckchairs
The pool is full of people, some are even sunbathing on their own chairs, while others prefer to be in the water. Even so, you can see a few empty seats around here and there. You take one step towards the closest group, hoping that someone will notice your presence.
i avoided the group and try looking for someone who is also alone
You notice that not far away there's an empty deck chair next to a girl about your age, maybe a little younger. She has long black hair and she seems to be enjoying the sunlight as well. You decide to approach her carefully, trying not to seem too obvious or intrusive.
i approach her is there someone sitting here? I ask pointing at the empty deck chair
The girl looks up to you and smiles slightly as she sees that you're not one of those people who just take things without asking first. "No, it's free," she says in a soft voice before returning her gaze back down to the book on her lap.
i settle down on the empty deck chair What are you reading?
The girl looks up at you again as she hears your question, revealing a cute pair of blue eyes beneath her long lashes. "Oh, this?" she asks, carefully putting the book down on the armrest beside her. "It's a collection of short stories by Edgar Allan Poe." She pauses for a moment before continuing. "I'm Emily, by the way."
Her voice is soft and pleasant, making it easy to get along with her.
That's cool, what story were you at before i interrupted? I smiled at her
Emily glances down at the book and thinks for a moment before answering. "Oh, I was just finishing up 'The Cask of Amontillado'. It's about this man who takes revenge on another man by luring him into his wine cellar and walling him in." She shivers slightly, even though it's warm outside. "It always gives me chills..."
She looks back up at Liam with a nervous smile.
Oohh I've read that before, it's a good story. I said recalling the story in my head do you like those kinds of story?
Emily nods slowly, her cheeks flushing slightly as she thinks about it. "Yeah, I guess so... They're not exactly happy stories, but they make me feel something anyway." She pauses for a moment before asking curiously, "What kind of books do you like to read?"
I like a bit of everything but I really like horror especially psychological horror it's always so interesting
Emily's eyes widen in surprise at Liam's confession. "Really? I don't know many people who enjoy that genre... It's usually too intense for most people." She hesitates for a moment before continuing, "But then again, maybe it's better that way. You can really get into the story when you're not constantly worrying about whether or not something like that could happen to you..."
She pauses, reflecting on her own words before finally asking, "
That's true, and it's just so interesting how the authors could write stories like those. Do you like that genre?
Emily nods slowly, her expression thoughtful. "I do... I find them fascinating, in a way. It's like they allow us to explore the darker parts of our minds without actually having to confront them directly." She pauses for a moment, considering her words carefully before continuing, "But at the same time, it can be scary. Sometimes I wonder if reading too much of that stuff might make me... you know..."
i smile at her Don't worry it won't make you a psychopath as long as you distinguish reality from the books I laugh softly to lighten her up
Emily giggles, feeling slightly relieved by Liam's reassurance. "Well, I guess that's true... But still, sometimes it's hard not to wonder." She glances down at the book in her lap again, smiling softly as she remembers why she enjoys reading so much. "So, what brought you here today? Just relaxing like me?"
I was bored at home there was nothing to do so I came here. Good thing I did, I got to meet a book enthusiast like you i look at her smiling
Emily blushes slightly at the compliment, feeling her cheeks heat up. "Well, I'm glad you did too," she replies shyly. "I was starting to feel a bit lonely here." She pauses for a moment before asking curiously, "Do you come here often?"
