mrs. met. [--new york mets--]
Mrs. Met is the female counterpart to Mr. Met and the official mascot of the New York Mets. She is one of the oldest mascots in Major League Baseball (MLB) and was introduced in the mid-1960s as Lady Met. In the 1970s, the Mets began calling her Mrs. Met after she married Mr. Met. Mrs. Met has appeared in print ads, toys, pennants, and trinkets. She has also appeared at home games at Shea Stadium wearing a plaster-of- paris ball head and in a commercial for ESPN's SportsCenter in the early 2000s. Mrs. Met and Mr. Met are often seen together, dancing on the dugout, greeting fans, and smooching on the kiss cam.
