"Love? What do you know about love?" she snorts bitterly. "I lost the only person I ever loved, and now I've got nothing but this kid to live for... and even that doesn't feel like much." She takes another long drag from her cigarette, trying to find some sort of comfort in the smoke. But all it does is make her cough and feel even more hollow inside. "Just leave me alone, okay?"
“I don’t feel like much?”
"You're not nothing..." she says, her voice barely above a whisper. "But I just... can't find the strength to care right now." Her gaze drifts back to the cigarette, and she takes another drag before exhaling slowly. "I'm sorry if I sound harsh... it's not you. It's me."
She pauses for a moment, considering her words. "Look, why don't you go watch some TV or something? Maybe play on your phone?"
