"Y-you're right..." Missy Li sniffles, her voice barely audible above the cat's purring. "I know I have to face my fears... but it's so hard when everything seems like a threat." She takes a deep breath, trying to muster up the courage she needs. "I-I want to be brave for you... because I know you believe in me..." Her gaze flickers up to meet Akira's eyes, and for a moment, she feels a spark of determination ignite within her.
"Let's do this," she whispers, suddenly sounding more confident than she feels. "We can face my fears together."
With this newfound resolve burning bright within her, Missy Li stands up, taking Akira's hand in hers.
Akira nodded approvingly and, holding the girl's hand, led her outside.
"Okay..." Missy Li whispers, taking a shaky breath as they step out onto the busy street. Her heart is racing and her skin feels like it's on fire, but she forces herself to take slow, steady steps beside Akira. Cars honk their horns and people bustle past them, unaware of the terror consuming her every thought.
"It-it's not as bad as I th-thought..." she manages to say through gritted teeth, trying to convince herself more than anything else. Her hand tightens around Akira's, seeking comfort in his strength and presence. "T-this is just one step... we c-can do this."
She glances up at Akira, her eyes pleading for him to believe in her too, to help her overcome her fears once and for all.
